Australia’s young wicketkeeper, Matthew Wade, is delighted to have scored his first hundred in Test cricket against West Indies but believes that the veteran, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170, is still the number one wicketkeeper in Australia.
The 24-year-old cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, and since then, he seems to have cemented his place in the limited-overs side.
The seasoned wicketkeeper/batsman, Haddin, could not take part in the Test series in the Caribbean as he had to fly back home due to some family problems, which gave opportunity to Wade to prove his mettle in the longer version of the sport as well.
It is never easy to keep wickets in the Caribbean because of the slow nature of pitches, but the youngster has done a very good job so far, even though he failed to make an impression with the bat for most part of the tour.
However, the left-handed batsman rose to the occasion in the third Test of the series yesterday and scored a brilliant century under trying circumstances. Wade scored 106 runs off only 146 balls, in which he struck 10 fours and three massive sixes. Because
of this superb knock by the wicketkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 was in a dominating position at stumps on day two.
Wade understands that in order to find a permanent slot in the Australian team, he must perform consistently with both bat and gloves.
He said after day two, "I don't think it changes anything, my mindset definitely hasn't changed. There's a lot of one day and T20 cricket in between, a lot of water under the bridge before the first Test against South Africa at the Gabba (in November), so
I'll do my job and see how it goes.”
The young cricketer further added that the conditions in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 are quite different as compared to Australia but this has provided him an opportunity to improve his game.
"I don't think I had any doubt I could play Test cricket, it's been a massive tour for me, I've learned so much from the first game we played, the one dayers where the conditions were just so different from what I'm used to," Wade added.
