The Australian wicketkeeper, Matthew Wade, who replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170 in earlier this year, is feeling the pressure of performing in this home summer, and shared his disappointment over a few missed chances behind the stumps in recent Tests.
No matter how many remarkable catches you take as a wicketkeeper, one missed opportunity may attract severe criticism. Sharing his misfortune during Adelaide Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Smith-c1473 on 46 (who went on score
a total of 122 runs) followed by a lost opportunity to stump http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KMDN-Kulasekara-c1802 (who was way out of his crease) in the Hobart Test, Wade feels that his concentration may be to blame.
“It's probably concentration, that's probably what it comes down to. I've definitely done enough technically, I do enough training. Every keeper misses chances, I know I'm going to miss chances, but I would like to have a little bit bigger gap in between
missed chances than one Test match,” shared the 24 year old.
The young wicketkeeper went on to add that he fully realizes his responsibility behind the stumps and is going to try and improve his performance rather than look for excuses.
“I'm disappointed, I don't need to read what's printed or what's said in the media for me to get disappointed or thinking about my glovework. You can't miss chances behind the stumps, it's as simple as that,” he further added.
With Haddin performing extremely well in the domestic circuit (particularly with the bat), the competition for a national spot will further motivate the 24-year-old. Named in the squad to play the Boxing Day Test on his birthday, the young player took advice
from former wicketkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918, over how to handle the pressure of the 5-day game.
Having played 23 Sheffield Shield games at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for Victoria in his days as a first class cricketer, a consistent performance in the second Test against Sri Lanka will allow Wade to regain his confidence. With 7 international Tests
under his belt, the young wicketkeeper is expected to serve the Kangaroos in the long run.
