Matthias Bachinger, Karol Beck qualify for the main round – ABN AMRO World Tennis Championship 2012
Matthias Bachinger beats Dusan Lojda 7-6(1), 6-3
World number 95 Matthias Bachinger prevailed over Dusan Lojda, ranked 206th in the world, in straight sets 7-6(1), 6-3 in the final round of the qualifying draw at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Championship in Rotterdam,
the Netherlands on Sunday. The German took an hour and 20 minutes to win the match.
Lojda was first to take the lead, breaking Bachinger in the fifth game of the contest and holding his serve in the sixth to get 4-2 up. Bachinger broke back in the tenth game and levelled the scores at 5-5. Both players held their
serve in the next two games to take the set to a tie-break. Bachinger was almost flawless in the tie-breaker as he dropped only one point, snatching it 7-1.
The German struck early in the second set, as he broke Lojda in the third game and consolidated on it, taking a 3-1 lead. Serving to stay in the set at 3-5, Lojda couldn’t hold his serve and lost the set 3-6.
Bachinger is drawn to play Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus in the first round of the main draw.
Karol Beck defeats Jan Hajek 4-6, 6-3, 7-5
Slovakian Karol Beck fought back after dropping the first set to beat Jan Hajek of Czech Republic in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to reach the main draw.
Hajek was looking to wrap up the match quickly as he started quite strongly. The Czech broke Beck in the second and fourth game to take a 4-0 lead. However, Beck broke back in the fifth and seventh game to square off the score
at 4-4. Hajek broke the Slovakian again in the sixth game to claim the set 6-4.
Beck broke his opponent in the very first game of the second set and then again in the fifth game to stretch his lead to 4-1. Hajek got one break back in the sixt game and held his serve in the next, to reduce the trail to 3-4.
Beck broke the Czech again in the ninth game, claiming the set 6-3.
In the decider, Beck broke Hajek in the fourth game to grab a 3-1 lead but the Czech retaliated immediately to take the score to 2-3. Hajek broke the Slovakian in the ninth game but failed to serve out the set. Beck struck the
final blow in the 12th game to clinch the set 7-5.
Beck will meet Philipp Petzschner of Germany in the opening round of the main draw.
