Matthias Bachinger ousts Michał Przysiezny to move into semi final – IPP Open 2011
German Matthias Bachinger got rid of Pole Michał Przysiezny in the quarterfinal of the IPP Open 2011.
World number 109 Bachinger took up the gauntlet against the world number 245 Przysiezny on hard indoor courts at Tali, Helsinki, Finland. After one hour and forty five minutes the 24 year-old Bachinger flogged the 27 year-old Przysiezny in straight sets of 7-6(2), 7-5 on Friday the 25th of November 2011.
As the two walked out on the neon blue court the crowd cheered for them and after winning the service toss Bachinger initiated the opening game. He battled a deuce to hold his respective service game and then went on to capitalize on a breakpoint in the second game as his adversary had double faulted. With a hold of serve in the third game, Bachinger had reeled off three successive games to take the mini lead on the scoreboard.
The 27 year-old Pole had held his service game in the fourth game and then capitalized on a breakpoint in the fifth game. As he repeated the feat had not only mitigated the arrears but also managed to equalize the score at three games each at the end of the sixth game.
The score tied at five games each and eventually the set was pushed into a tiebreaker by the end of the twelfth game as the two kept bagging their respective service games. The neck-to-neck run had lost it steam in the tiebreaker and first to take the lead was Bachinger. He rushed past his adversary to clinch the tiebreaker at 7-2 and was leading the match with one set in his pocket.
During the second set the German smashed a walloping nine aces and had taken a notch higher in his performance. This time the Pole had decided to open the set and he double faulted on his serve to gift a game to his adversary. On the other hand, Bachinger had bagged two games to take the mini lead on the scoreboard.
Rallying down a few games the players matched an eye for an eye and they held their respective serves for most of the set. However, by the end of the eighth game the score had shifted to 5-3 with Bachinger leading the set but he was unable to close out the set immediately in the next game.
Nonetheless, As the Pole Held his serve in the ninth game, he reduced the deficit to 4-5 and as he capitalized on a breakpoint, he tactfully managed to eradicate the deficit by equalizing the score at five games each at the end of the tenth game.
Although at this point the set could’ve gone either way, it was a lucky day for Bachinger as he immediately broke back in the eleventh game and then served for the match in the twelfth. The world number 109 German, moved into the semi final where he will be facing Canadian Frank Dancevic.
