Matthias Bachinger outmuscles Federico Delbonis in the second round – Geneva Open 2012 CH
German contender, Matthias Bachinger, made a surprising entry at the indoor hard courts of the Geneva Open 2012 in GreenSet GrandPrix, Switzerland. He successfully battled through the second round of ATP (Association of Tennis
Professionals) Challenger Tour event and nudged up a thrilling three-set entertaining match against the Argentinean professional, Federico Delbonis on the eve of Wednesday.
The duo encountered each other for the first time in their tennis careers and Bachinger summed up his victory in one hour and 46 minutes.
The world number 134, Delbonis, commenced a remarkable start in the initial set and assertively held his serve to draw the first blood. He cashed his rival’s serve in the third game and marked his 2-1 lead, which gave him the opportunity
to take the front. The higher ranked German completely proved dormant and was unable to encounter. Both the players held their serves in the games to follow but Delbonis nudged up to secure the last two games without facing any hindrance and closed the opener
with a 6-4 score line.
In the second set, the winning order reversed. The 25-year-old German rival drew the lead and cashed his challenger’s serve in the fourth game to mark his 3-1 lead. He did not give his challenger a single opportunity to dominate
and reeled off the games with poise and strong resolve to avenge his former loss. He pushed his opponent and stamped the score board with a 6-3.
In the final set, the 22-year-old was unable to uphold his motivation and the right-hander German participant secured the opportunity by cashing his initial serve. Bachinger preserved his rhyme and continued to beautifully served,
clinching the first two games resultantly marked a 2-love lead. However, after that point, none of the players broke their serves but despite of his losing edge the Argentinean junior struggled hard to take over. He miserably failed to fire back and the German
professional took the lead by pulled the victory, smashing down a 6-4 score.
For the next round the German contestant will fight against the seventh seeded, Olivier Rochus. Previously the Belgian player gave the Ukrainian professional, Ivan Sergeyev defeat.
