The former Borussia Dortmund sweeper has expressed his anger at the England national team manager over his critical comments about Germany’s selection policy.
Matthias Sammer has blasted the English national team manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello, who recently blamed Germany for stealing Turkish players.
Capello accused the DFB for encouraging their clubs in poaching of young talent from other countries. The Italian insisted that after making a name in Germany, these young players reject their respective national teams, and go
onto represent the German side.
The Three Lions boss met UEFA President http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Platini recently, and urged him to take action against the German Federation.
Capello recently stated:
"These players get new passports. Germany have five players with Turkish roots who chose to play for Germany. And we all know what happened."
However, Sammer has denied the allegations, and instead wants action taken against the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 boss. The DFB Technical Director believes that there is nothing unfair in Germany’s selection policy, and the doors will always remain
open for anyone who qualifies to play for Die Mannschaft.
"We recruit from anywhere. I cannot understand the statements, the sport only responds to developments in society. When we open our doors to players with a migrant background, we welcome everyone. That is the role of sport." Sammer
added.
Sammer believes that Germany are within their rights to recruit any foreign descent player in their squad as long as they follow rules of the sports’ governing body. He reacted angrily to Capello’s remarks, who pointed at the selection
of Mesut Ozil and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 in Die Mannschaft squad.
Several other DFB bosses and former German players have also blasted the former Juventus manager’s remarks, and they believe that Capello has not yet swallowed his team’s loss to Germany during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
UEFA is unlikely to impose any sanctions on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cacau-c8235 were the other foreign
descent players Capello pointed at.
