Matthieu Rosset and Jun Wu shine in Bolzano: FINA Diving Grand Prix 2011
The 2011 FINA Diving Grand Prix ended with many impressive performances of divers at Bolzano in Italy, from June 10-12. Initially, the Men’s 3m spring-board crown was taken over by French diver, Matthieu Rosset with a victorious score of 457.10 points, while
Zhiyi Sun of China snared silver title with a total score of 455.40 points. Julian Sanchez of Mexico captured bronze medal with 442.80 points.
After winning the 3m spring-board title, Rosset was pleased with his individual performance in the competition. He claimed that it was really a close match, but his persistency and determination kept him motivated.
In another diving final, Jun Wu of Chin took home the golden crown in the Men’s 10m platform final with a winning score of 511.95 points, while Ivan Garcia of Mexico wound up second with a total score of 480.70 points. Yang Linguang of China earned third
place honours with 480.45 points.
Afterwards, the Men’s 3m spring-board synchro final saw the pair of Damien Cely and Matthieu Rosset of France claim gold medal with a sterling score of 391.44 points. Meanwhile, Nicola Marconi and Tommaso Marconi of Italy earned silver with a total score
of 371.82 points, while their team-mates, Michele Benedetti and Tommaso Rinaldi rounded out the top three divers with their effort of 363.51 points.
Last, but not the least, the Men’s 10m platform crown was clinched by another Chinese pair of Hong Ying and Yang Liguang with a winning score of 464.34 points. Placed second in the corresponding diving event was Mexican diver pair of Ivan Garcia and German
Sanchez with a total score of 419.52 points, while Timofei Hordeichik and Vadim Kaptur (BLR) earned third place honours with a total score of 403.14 points.
Meanwhile, the Women’s diving meets consisting of the Women’s 3m spring-board, 10m platform, 3m spring-board synchro and 10m plat-form synchro are scheduled to be held next in the event. With the current form all the divers are in, the upcoming events are
sure to be thrilling shows of quality diving.
