The former Inter Milan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 player has remarked on the transfer saga he embroiled in last season, and defended his decision on choosing AS Roma over Juventus.
The former AC Siena striker was involved in one of the most publicised transfer dealings in this past summer transfer window. There were many clubs interested in the services of the striker, after he had a promising season under the tutelage and guidance
of Giuseppe Sannino at Siena.
He scored 12 goals during the campaign and was a big part of the Robur staying up in the Serie A following their promotion to the Serie A in the previous season. After guiding the club to promotion in the Serie A, Antonio Conte left AC Siena to join his
former employers, Juventus, in the role of head coach.
It was because of this reason that Juventus were touted to be one of the favourites to sign the youngster from Siena. There were talks that Conte was still at good terms with the Siena board which would help ease a possible move for the player.
However, the player was part of a co-ownership deal, with Genoa and Siena having 50 per cent rights of the player, respectively. There was also interest in the player from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, and a move seemed to be on the cards after the Genoa President, Enrico
Preziosi, remarked that there was interest in the services of the player from the Nerazzurri outfit.
After much speculation, it appeared that AS Roma were the front runners for his signature, and after a few hiccups while deciding personal term between the player and his agent; the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 finally landed their target.
The Giallorossi striker then went on to state his reasons for selecting the capital outfit, and mentioned:
“It was not easy. At the end of the day I decided to play for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 because they told me that with Zdenek Zeman the strikers are more likely to score lots of goals. In theory, at least! All joking aside, apart from the Coach I also chose to come here because
there is a strong project based on young players. Reading the papers there certainly seemed to be a strong interest from Juventus.”
Roma will be travelling to the Turin outfit tonight to play their sixth match of the Serie A campaign.
