The Siena centre-forward has made his desire to move to a bigger club clear, and hopes the Genoa and Siena can work out a solution to make it possible.
Destro’s future has been subject to a lot of speculation, with Siena and Genoa playing a tug of war where the future of the striker lies. Genoa sent Destro on loan to Siena, and the loan had a clause which allowed Siena to buy
50 per cent of Destro’s registration rights.
The Grifone felt that Robur would hand over the striker without activating that clause, and Enrico Preziosi, Genoa President, had gone on record to suggest that they would give preference to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan when they look to sell the
striker. However, Siena sought to activate the clause and are now in co-ownership of the striker along with Genoa.
Antonio Conte led the Robur to promotion last season and are said to have good relations with the club following his departure to Juventus. The Turin outfit are in need of a striker, and Conte has been keen to add the Italian for
his upcoming campaign.
Juventus would be battling it out in the Champions League and will seek to retain their Scudetto, and need to strengthen their squad to compete at the high standards they set for themselves last season.
Siena’s decision to activate the clause seem to have strained the relations between the two clubs, and even though Destro feels the patrons of either club are above such petty issues, he still feels the need for an appeal to allow
him to join him a big club.
Destro went on to plead:
“I hope that, knowing [Siena President Massimo] Mezzaroma and [Genoa President Enrico] Preziosi, will have the good sense to agree and give me the chance to go and play for a big team like the ones that have asked for me.”
The striker did not state any preferences but did state his eagerness to join a big club, and also stated:
“Where do I prefer to go? Definitely I can say that I have motivation and the utmost confidence to compete on a par with all other attackers. Then, it’s up to me to rightly prove whether or not I am ready to do so, and I know that
I can do so.”
Destro would be starting pre-season training with the Robur.
