Mattias Carlsson and Gabriella Fagundez nab titles in Halmstad - Swedish Long Course Nationals 2011
Mattias Carlsson and Gabriella Fagundez put up a wonderful performance in the Men’s 100m back-stroke and Women’s 1500m freestyle respectively, on day three of the 2011 Swedish Long Course Nationals at Halmstand, Sweden, on Friday, July 1.
Initially, Mattias Carlsson took home the Men’s 100m back-stroke title in a triumphant time of 57.31 seconds, while Kristian Kron wound up second in 57.89 seconds. The third place was secured by Martin Nilsson in 58.07 seconds.
Gabriella Fagundez nabbed the Women’s 1500m freestyle crown with a sterling time of 17 minutes and 24.61 seconds, whereas, Ellen Olsson captured silver in 17 minutes and 28.71 seconds. Josefine Hippi rounded out the top three swimmers in 17 minutes and 30.74
seconds.
Additionally, the Men’s 400m free relay title was clinched by Pontus Flodqvist, Petter Stymne, Simon Sjodin and Paul Gordon of SK Neptun with a winning time of 3 minutes and 24.25 seconds. Lass swimming team earned silver in a time of 3 minutes and 26.37
seconds, while Taby Sim grabbed the bronze medal of the event in a time of 3 minutes and 27.53 seconds.
Michelle Coleman, Rebecca Ejdervik, Alshammar and Lovisa Ericsson of Taby Swim topped the Women’s 400m medley relay race with a victorious time of 4 minutes and 07.53 seconds. Helsingborg swimming team wound up second in 4 minutes and 11.55 seconds, while
Vasby SS rounded out the top three in 4 minutes and 11.99 seconds.
Earlier, the Olympic medallist, Therese Alshammar, captured the Women’s 50m freestyle title with a winning time of 24.59 seconds, whereas, Anton Lagerqvist nabbed the Men’s 200m breast-stroke crown after touching the finishing wall in 2 minutes and 16.77
seconds.
Lars Frolander snagged the Men’s 100m butterfly title with a time of 53.85 seconds and Sarah Thyden notched the Women’s 200m IM crown in 2 minutes and 15.21 seconds.
The Swedish Long Course Nationals is an exciting opportunity for both junior and senior levels swimmers to train themselves hard for the upcoming 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, this July.
