Matvey Korobov, Lester Gonzalez set to face each other – Boxing news
The Russian professional boxer, Matvey Korobov, who is currently the number seven WBA Middleweight contender, is set to face Cuban professional boxer, Lester Gonzalez Perez on the undercard of the Brandon Rios vs. Urbano Antillon bout on July 9, 2011 at
the Home Deport Centre in Carson, California.
According to Korobov’s manager, if the 28-year-old, Matvey ‘Matt’ Korobov wins this fight against Perez, it is likely that he can get a big fight later this year.
The number seven WBA middleweight contender, Korobov is coming back to the ring after winning a six-round unanimous points’ decision over Marcos Primera when the two fighters were face to face at the WinStar Casino in Oklahoma, United States. Korobov has
never been defeated by anyone in his career. He has now won 15 consecutive fights without any loss or draw in his career.
The 33-year-old, Lester Perez, who fights at Super Middleweight, Middleweight, and Light Middleweight divisions, is not an easy contender to fight with. He has displayed extraordinary boxing skills in front of many good fighters in the past.
The Southpaw stance, Perez fought 17 total fights of which he won 12 competitive bouts including 6 knockout victories with three losses and 2 draws in his professional boxing career. He is now returning to the ring after winning a six-round unanimous points’
decision over Alfredo Contreras on May 13, 2011 at the Buffalo Bill’s Star Arena in Primm, Nevada.
Perez faced three back-to-back losses in his career. The first loss came his way when he went against Chris Chatman in 2010 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in San Diego California. After that, he lost the eight-round unanimous points’ decision against Brandon Gonzales
on January 1, 2011 at the Sports Centre in California, United States. Following that, Eromosele Albert won a Technical Knockout Decision against him in 2011 at the Magic City Casino in Florida, United States.
The undefeated boxing prospect, Korobov should try to win this bout against Perez to continue his winning streak.
