Matwe Middelkoop prevails over Michal Przysiezny in the first round – Seoul Challenger 2012 CH
Dutch senior, Matwe Middelkoop, successfully battled through the first round of the Samsung Securities Cup Challenger 2012. He consolidated remarkable three set win, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 against the Pole, Michal Przysiezny, held at the
hard courts of Deco Turf, Korea. The duo encountered each other on the eve of Tuesday for approximately two hours.
Ranked 267th in ATP World Tour Rankings, Przysiezny, held his initial serve and confidently drew the first blood. The score line levelled down to 2-all in the fourth game but the Pole took the lead in the sixth game
by cashing his rival’s lone serve break. After that point, Dutch senior gave up and Przysiezny smoothly bagged all the games, closing the set with a 6-3 score.
The 28-year-old Polish participant double faulted five times and manifested an average initial serve of 50 percent. He converted 21 of 28 first and 13 of 28 second delivery points with just one of the two break points bestowed
on him. The Dutch right-hander secured 74 percent initial serve precision with 12 of 14 first but only pocketed away two of five second serve points. He was unable to secure the lead because he was unable to snatch away a single break point out of five bestowed
onto him.
In the second set, the 29-year-old, Dutch rival picked pace and dissolved the Pole’s first serve. He absolutely rotated the winning order by clinched the initial three games and marked a 3-0 lead and dominated the score line throughout.
He did not give his opponent a single chance to take the lead and preserve his serve the entire time. He beautifully fired high pace serves and forehands in response, reeling off all the games and concluding the set with a 6-3 score.
In the deciding set, the two challengers battled hard to take control. The higher-ranked Pole gave a classic start and broke his competitor’s serve in the fourth game. Middelkoop took note of his rival’s pace and swiftly cashed
his serve in the seventh game and the score line began to level down. He beautifully dusted away all the breaks and stole the last two games, concluding the match with a 7-5 win.
