Maud Le Car clinches the highest heat score of the day: ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France
French surfer, Maud Le Car notched the highest score of the day with her 9.50 (out of 20) in the sixth and final heat of the opening day of the ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France at Les Bourdaines, France, on Wednesday, June 1.
The late comer entry, Maud Le Car surfed pass her opponents in a remarkable fashion and faced no considerable competition from any surfer. As a result of this win, the Frenchwoman has made it through to the second round of the competition.
Meanwhile, Spanish surfer Estitxu Estremo knocked out Nao Omura of Japan in a fascinating clash and ensured her place in round two by scoring 7.75 in heat 6. The Japanese ended up with 7.25 points, a mere half a point less than her spanish opponent. Amy
Stewart of Australia came fourth with a total score of 5.60.
Le Car said while speaking to reporters after the heat, “In the last seconds I got a couple of waves so I am very happy. I got one good right which I paddled hard to get and it had a little section to make a manoeuvre backside. In the last seconds I jumped
to first place so I am very happy.”
Estitxu Estremo, who claimed 6.50 points out of 10 in the first wave, wasn’t displeased herself as her overall score was enough to send her to the second round of ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France. The surfer admitted that luck did play a part in her qualifying
for the next round.
Estremo said, “I was so lucky out there. At the start I couldn’t get out the back but eventually I made it out there and I got a really good right. I was able to make the drop and do one good turn and then a half turn that I got a bit stuck on.”
Six heats of the Swatch Girls Pro will be held at Les Bourdaines on Thursday, June 2.
