Maude-Aimee Leblanc all set to take part in CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012
Canadian Maude-Aimee Leblanc, who displayed a decent performance in the last edition of the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, is ready to put her skills to the test in the current edition of the prestigious tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to start from August 20-26, at The Vancouver Golf Club, Canada, and is expected to feature a fearsome field containing names like the current world number one Yani Tseng, defending champion Brittany Lincicome and Stacy Lewis of the United States.
Leblanc is a prominent LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star, and ranks among the most talented rookie players in Canada. The Canadian star may not be able to steal the show at The Vancouver Golf Club, she is confident enough to rattle top-ranked contenders.
In addition to Leblanc, there will be plenty of other Canadian players in the field, seeking to prove their mettle in front of the local crowd. Key national players who have confirmed their commitment to participate in the event include Alena Sharp and Rebecca Lee-Bentham of Toronto.
Officials of the CN and Golf Canada spoke to the media and expressed their hope that the tournament is going to surprise everyone once again, as the field is strong enough to lure a large number of spectators. They said that although most of the big names have confirmed their intention to join the roster, the field is yet to be completed.
Officials said that interested players are requested to confirm their participation by August 14, 2012.
Despite a strong field, Canadian players are expected to receive massive support from golf crazy fans. However, analysts said that grabbing a title is an uphill task for almost all the national players in the roster.
Leblanc, however, appears to be in relatively stronger position than her fellow Canadians. The last edition of the CN Canadian Women’s Open saw her display a stunning performance on the course.
The young Canadian fired an overall 288 to finish tied for the 49th position on the leaderboard. Leblanc amazed the spectators in the third round, as she posted a solid 67.
“It was a lot less pressure than yesterday for sure. It helped a lot to stay calm out there. I struggled a little bit with my drive through the day but made good par saves,” she had shared at the end of the third round of the last 2011 CN Canadian Women’s Open.
