Maurice Harris to face Derric Rossy for USBA heavyweight title – Boxing news
The American national professional boxer Wilbur Maurice Harris will be facing the 31-year-old Heavyweight contender Derric Rossy in their 12-round bout for the United States Boxing Association Heavyweight title on July 16, 2011 at the Resorts Hotel & Casino
in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The world recognised promotional company Carla Hill Promotions has arranged for this bout to take place.
Carla Hill, who is the wife of former Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight champion, Virgil Hill said, “I am excited about this card and starting my first show off with a championship fight of importance.”
The current USBA Heavyweight Champion, Harris is coming in the ring after being defeated by Tony Thompson in his last fight on May 27, 2011. Thompson won a third-round technical knockout decision against the Heavyweight contender, Harris. Harris went down
to the floor for couple of times in rounds 2 and 3 respectively.
Harris turned professional losing his four-round bout against Joe Kenna in 1992 at the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill, Pennsylvania.
The Orthodox stance, Rossy has been an outstanding performer since he took boxing as a profession. Rossy fought 29 of his total fights of which he has won 25 competitive bouts including 14 knockout victories.
Derric ‘The Shaolin Fist’ Rossy turned professional winning first-round knockout decision against Jose Luis Gomez in 2004 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Middletown, New York. Derric ‘El Leon’ Rossy is now coming to the ring after a few of his unimpressive
fight losses.
In his last fight, the American national Rossy faced his fifth-round technical knockout decision loss fighting against Kubrat Pulev on May 7, 2011. In his second last fight, Rossy went face-to-face losing 12 rounds unanimous points’ decision fighting against
Eddie Chambers on February 11, 2011 at the Bally’s Atlantic City in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
