Mauricio Herrera defends IBF North American title against Mike Dallas – Boxing news
American national Mauricio Herrera successfully defeated the 24-year-old Mike Dallas in their 10-round bout last Friday at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in California, United States.
Mauricio ‘El Maestro’ Herrera made the second successful defence of his IBF North American Light Welterweight title by winning a 10-round unanimous points decision against Mike ‘The Silent Assassin’ Dallas of America.
Jack Reiss was appointed as the referee of that competitive bout. Fritz Werner, Zac Young and Alejandro Rochin Mapula were performing their duties as judges to take the final decision.
At the end of the final tenth round, all the three judges gave the decision in favour of the 31-year-old, Herrera. The points for Herrera were 95-95, 98-92, 96-94.
Dallas faced the second ever loss of his career after losing the decision against Herrera at the Pechanga Resort & Casino. It was his second consecutive loss when he was not able to predict Herrera’s punching speed. The first loss came Dallas’ way, when
he lost the seven-round knockout decision against Josesito Lopez at the same venue earlier in 2011.
The Light Welterweight contender, Herrera won the IBF North American Light Welterweight title by scoring a 12-round unanimous points decision fighting against Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia on January 1, 2011 at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada, United
States.
Herrera turned professional at the time when he went against Angel Osuna in 2007 at the Omega Products International in California, Unites States.
After winning 13 consecutive fights, Herrera faced the only loss of his career, when he lost the points decision fighting against Mike Anchondo in their 8-round bout at the Chumash Casino in California, United States.
Herrera made the second successful defence of his title by winning a unanimous points decision against Cristian Favela on April 24 at the Doubletree Hotel in California United States.
Hopefully, Herrera will try to learn from his past mistakes and will come back to the ring with a better plan next time.
