Mauricio Pintor to enter career’s first ever title bout against Ivan Cano – Boxing News
Mauricio Pintor, the surging young Mexican light welterweight, will take on a more experienced opponent to test his limits in the form of fellow countryman Ivan Cano, in 10-round bout which will be held on May 18, 2012.
The above duo will headline the pay-per-view which is being promoted by the duo of Tuto Zabala Jr of All Star Boxing and Ricardo Maldonado of Producciones Deportivas and the ring for the extravaganza will be stretched at Auditorio Plaza Condesa situated
in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico.
The bout will be for the vacant WBC youth world light welterweight title and this will be the first time that both men will enter in a title bout. Pintor, 18, has been in a total 18 bouts and boasts an undefeated win streak.
The young lad has never lost even a single bout and has collected 11 of his total 17 wins by sheer knockout. Pintor recently collected his career’s only draw decision in the last bout against Abdiel Ramirez.
His opponent for the Friday night showdown will be Ivan, who is not only more experienced but also has collected more knockout wins than Pintor. Cano, also known as ‘Macanon’, has been in a total 21 bouts and emerged victorious in 18. He has lost just three
bouts and boasts 15 of his total wins via knockout.
Pintor, famous in his hometown by the name ‘El Trompas’, is overshadowed by his opponent’s experience, knockout proficiency, win ratio and many other vital aspects. The only facet that gives Mauricio and upper hand is his height.
If Pintor strives hard to keep himself out of Ivan’s reach  and keeps on pummelling him with his long well targeted jabs there is a very clear chance that Mauricio will rise at the occasion against and will not only grab the title but will also defend his
win streak.
At the same time, for Ivan, the bout is a golden chance to grab the career’s first ever title and skim off the effect of recent two losses in last five bouts. The bout will definitely be a tooth-and-nail one since both men reside at respectable position
in their national rankings and are considered as top-notch high calibre pugilists.
The show will be televised live on Telemundo Network and the fight card will be stuffed with six more bouts which will be announced in the upcoming days.
