Mauritius International 2012: Allisen Camille and Cynthia Course clinch Women’s Doubles title
Allisen Camille and Cynthia Course, the talented shuttlers from Seychelles, lived up to expectations as they clinched Women’s Doubles title after defeating the home favourites Shama Aboobakar and Shaama Sandooyeea in final showdown of Mauritius International
2012 in Mauritius, on Sunday, June 17.
Allisen and Cynthia, who were un-seeded in the Women’s Singles draw of the championship, showed a steely determination as they put up gutsy performance and thrashed their opponents without facing any problem.
The in-form Allisen and Cynthia were just incredible in their attacking play as they put up amazing show of aggressive badminton and ousted their local rivals in straight games with a comprehensive margin by taking just 25 minutes in the court.
In the meanwhile, Shama and Shaama could show their brilliance in front of their home fans as they failed to overpower their rivals throughout the contest and lost it in straight sets with a comfortable difference on the score board.
In the first game, both pairs did not waste any time and kept the pace of rallies high from initial stage. They were impressive in the court and the cracking sounds of powerful strokes could be heard in every corner of the packed indoor arena.
However, Allisen and Cynthia were the first to take a reasonable lead on the score board until the mid-game interval in the opening set.
After the break, the local shuttlers tried to play positive and dominating badminton but failed to breach the gap as their rivals were also positive in the execution of their shots.
At the ending points of first set, Allisen and Cynthia dictated the pace of rallies by taking the bird early at net and won the set with a good margin of 21-16.
In the second game, Shama and Shaama found an ominous start as they could not stop their opponents from taking an early lead on the board.
On the other hand, Allisen and Cynthia were focused and collected in the court and they remained successful in taking a reasonable lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the in-form Allisen and Cynthia continued their roller coaster performance without showing any mercy to their local challengers and won the game with a huge margin of 21-14.
Allisen and Cynthia bagged Women’s Doubles title after ending up the final match with a striking 21-16 and 21-14 margin on the score board.
