The brother of Blackburn Rovers attacking midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauro-Formica-c24972, Lautaro Formica, has confirmed the 23-year-old is looking for a move away from the English Premier League side and could end up at Olympiakos.
Reports over the weekend revealed that the Greek side had approached Blackburn Rovers over the possibility of signing the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 international. Talks are still ongoing but it is believed a deal will be agreed upon soon and the move will be announced before the transfer window closes.
Lautaro himself plays for Greek side Astera Tripolis and that is one of the reasons his brother has opted for a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908. He revealed he had spoken to his brother in depth about the current situation and that Mauro was keen on a move away from Blackburn Rovers.
Lautaro said in an interview:
“Of course I spoke with my brother about this.
There is a possibility to make a transfer to Olympiakos. There is interest from the Greek champions.
I said to him a lot of things about Greece and what Olympiakos means for the Greek football.”
According to Mauro the decision to leave was not in his hands, it was now up to Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and Olympiakos to sort out the deal before the deadline day of the January transfer window. Lautaro admitted however, the forward was looking forward to a move away from the Rovers.
He continued:
“The problem is that he has some issues with Blackburn that he must resolve.
He told me that he wants to come to play here. It doesn't depend on him. It depends on the two clubs, Blackburn and Olympiakos. We will see what is going to happen.”
Mauro made his senior debut for Newell’s Old Boys in 2006, going on to make 84 appearances over a period of five years and scoring 20 goals. He transferred to Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window of 2011, making his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2011.
He has so far made 21 appearances in the Premier League and has scored 3 goals. With Blackburn Rovers struggling in the Premier League and lack of first team opportunities, Mauro seems to have decided there was no future for him at the Premier League side.
