Maverick Vinales continues Moto3 testing at Almeria, Spain – MotoGP news
The young Spaniard Maverick Vinales experienced a test outing aboard a Moto3 class Honda powered FTR machine.
He also enjoyed a ride on Moto2 machine arranged by his team.
Vinales shared his views with MotoGP.com and said, “What a surprise the team gave me. It's true that I had asked the team to let me try a Moto2 at some point, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon. I was surprised by its power and acceleration, it was
really fun and I want to thank the team.”
The Spaniard added, “But the important thing is that we were able to test the FTR Moto3 and we got very valuable information to keep working throughout the pre-season.”
Vinales endured the test session in preparation for the new Moto3 class that will be introduced in the 2012 MotoGP season. The new class will comprise of 250cc four stroke bikes. It is a replacement of the older 125cc two-stroke machines.
The Spanish rider took his maiden win in the 125cc category at Le Mans event during the 2011 season. He became the third youngest competitor to take his career’s first win. First two riders in the respective list were Marco Melandri and Scott Redding.
He was able to take third position in the 2011 125cc championship with an Aprilia machine during his rookie season. Coming to the Moto3 class he will be riding a FTR chassis planted with Honda NFS250R power unit.
The Honda has earned a strong image of reliability in the motorcycle racing world, especially in the class. The BQR team is delighted to work with FTR chassis experts from Great Britain.
Paris Hilton racing’s Blusens BQR collected four wins with Vinales in the basic category of MotoGP championship.
During his initial test outing, he was facing some problems with FTR Honda machine that was running on a basic setup. Vinales’ outing was restricted to 20 laps that he managed to run a good time.
Considering his outstanding performance in his rookie season, Vinales was rewarded with the ride aboard team’s Moto2 machine. It was a motivational stunt for the 16-year old rider.
