Maverik and Double Dealer to battle it out in the Betfred Goals Galore Handicap at Kempton on 7th April, 2012
Betfred Goals Galore Handicap (London Mile Qualifier) is likely to create a buzz at Kempton on 7th April, 2012. The Class race will cover 1 mile on a surface that has been labelled flat. The fifteen runners
will be competing for a purse of £12,938.
Maverik, the four-year-old son of Iceman, out of mare Nouvelle Lune, is performing in an incredible manner this season.
Trained by Ralph Beckett for owners, Athos, Cooper, Quinn and E.P.L, the young runner bagged a victory in the 32RedBet.com Handicap (London Mile Qualifier) at Kempton on 24th
January, 2012.
He entered as a favourite with the odds of 7 to 2. Paired with jockey Jim Crowley, he defeated, George Guru, by a narrow margin of a neck.
Mounted by the same jockey, he entered the Grosser Preis Gunter Sachs Memorial Race (Conditions) (4yo+) with the odds of 17 to 5, and triumphed over race favourite Hoist The Sail by ¾ of a length at St. Moritz on 19th February,
2012.
It looks like this runner can comfortably take the today’s race, based on his impeccable performances and his familiarity with the track at Kempton.
His performances have improved immensely this season under Beckett’s training, as he was trained by Michael Dods until 17th November, 2011.
Double Dealer, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni for Godolphin, will be competing in his seasonal debut. Under Zarooni’s training, the four-year-old colt finished in placed positions in his last three races.
He finished third in the Try Totequickpick If You're Feeling Lucky Handicap at Yarmouth on 28th August, 2011. Under jockey Antioco Murgia, he missed the finish as a runner-up by a narrow margin of a neck.
Ridden by the same jockey, the son of Dubawi, out of Infiel, finished as a runner-up in the Sungard Securities Finance Handicap at Sandown on 9thSeptember, 2011. He missed the victory by a mere difference of a neck to winner, Sure Route.
He stood third in the Home of Racing Handicap at Newmarket on 29th October, 2011. He was the mount for jockey Eddie Ahern, where once again he fell short of the finish as a runner-up by a neck.
It looks like Maverik and Double Dealer will heat the track in this race with their competitive natures.
Maverik might complete his hat-trick, but it will not be an easy victory for him. Double Dealer could down this race as well if he races with determination than he will not be defeated by a narrow margin this time.
