Mawaqeet expected to shine in UBS Stakes (Handicap)
Mawaqeet is tipped to prevail in the UBS Stakes (Handicap) at Goodwood in England on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. The triumphant horse in the class-2 event will get a cash prize of £24,900 in the end.
The stamina of all runners will be put to a test in the 1 mile 4 furlong event, which will start at 15:45 GMT. A total of 16 runners will be contesting for victory in the race and the going will be good at Goodwood.
There are quite a few contenders for victory in the race, but only one will finish on top in the end. Looking at the performances of Mawaqeet, it appears that he has got a decent chance of shining today. He has been priced 16 to 1 by the bookmakers and the
punters will also be risking some bets on him.
The three-year-old gelding does not have a lot of experience, but he has managed to do well in his career until now. He has represented his team in six events, winning one of them whereas finished as a runner up on the same number of times. In addition to
that, he has secured the third spot on a couple of occasions, which means that he dropped out of the top three only twice.
The Sir Michael Stoute’s trainee made his debut in September 2011 and was unable to make a big impression in his first ever race. He was given a starting price of 14 to 1 back then, but had to settle for 12th place in the end.
However, things got better for the young runner afterwards, as he started delivering better results with the passage of time. He failed to win any event in his debut season, but enjoyed a good time in 2012.
He has participated in three races in the ongoing season and managed to win the most recent one. He was priced 5 to 2 in that event and displayed extremely good stamina, which helped him succeed by three lengths. He would have gained a lot of confidence
because of that win, thus it will be difficult to stop him from fighting at the front today.
Mawaqeet’s partner in the race will be seasoned jockey, Paul Hanagan.
