Max Biaggi of Aprilia Alitalia content with 4th place finish in race two at Silverstone – WSBK news
Aprilia Alitalia team rider Max Biaggi earned a fourth place in race two after a disastrous ride in race one at Silverstone. The Italian holds second place in 2011 World Superbike Championship points table.
Second race was a recall of Brno and Aragon where he fought with Marco Melandri and divided a race win for each Italian.
Max Biaggi said, “I stressed the tyres in order to catch up with the leading pack and that prevented me from being incisive at the end even though I really gave it my all, so much that I was able to get in front of my team mate who is quite fast here.”
After completing the race weekend at Silverstone the stats reveal that a fourth place finish was not bad at all. However, the 11th grid start position was little disappointment for the Italian rider.
Earlier he was feeling a bit low as a bent brake lever hampered his performance in race one. The lever caused him to draw his hand off from handle bar while braking. This made him lose a lot of precious time in the race.
After a hard fight with unfamiliar team riders placed lower at the starting grid, he was devastated and finish poorly at 11th position in race one.
Biaggi further added, “Even in race one I could have done better, but with the bent brake lever and the technical problem with the clutch I had little choice but to grit my teeth and pick up as many points as I could.”
Biaggi was successful in the last two rounds and won the second race at Aragon Motorland and Brno. After his previous wins resulted in a fight with compatriot Melandri, this weekend was a bit below par for him. However, his race performance in the second
session was marvellous as compared to the first session.
