Max Diamond glitters in A6 victory at Romford
There is an old adage that states that “all that glistens is not gold.” This commonly heard phrase is just as applicable to everyday life as it is to the world of 400m greyhound racing.

The aptly-named Max Diamond shone with his victory in the A6 race that began an action-packed 12-race card at the Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium on Monday evening. Coming out of trap six, he moved slowly
away from the pack to lead near the line. The result was a great 24.90 second finish that gave the win to the 11-4 favourite.
Finishing just a head’s length behind the winner was Slimline Vegas (5-1), who matched the winning time of 24.90. Somers Boy (3-1) was the third-place finisher with his time of 24.96. He was just ¾ lengths
out of second place, despite disputing throughout the race. Car Lethal’s (4-1) finishing time of 24.97 caused her to miss the top three by a shoulder.
Despite having every chance to take the lead, Sell The Deal (4-1) could only manage a fifth-place result. She finished the race in 25.35, and was 4¾ lengths behind Car Lethal. Locking up a last-place finish
was Snorbans Louie (4-1), who bumped first to finish a head behind fifth place in 25.36.
In the A5 race that followed, the odds makers selected Sara Charm and Remember Bill as the joint 3-1 favourites to win the race. However, neither dog managed to take the top spot, as Lord Bonville (7-2)
shot ahead and finished first in 24.78. Sara Charm, however, did manager a respectable second-place finish in 24.84, missing the win by just ¾ lengths.
Beat Them James (4-1) ran on to lay claim on third place, with his time of 24.96 placing him 1½ lengths behind Sara Charm. Bumping at third caused Quivers Reason (7-2) to lose 2 lengths, which resulted
in a 25.12 finish that was good for fourth place.
Eeza Red Devil (4-1) held an early pace from trap one, but it wasn’t enough, as he finished a head behind Quivers Reason to make the fifth position his own. Remember Bill’s sixth-place finish was anything
but memorable. His time of 25.17 placed him a ½ length out of the number five spot.
Max Diamond turned in a terrific performance in today’s A6 race, and he will have an opportunity to extend his winning streak on Wednesday, when the racing resumes at Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium. The
excitement begins with an A8 race at 19:30.
