Max Kieffer relishes the opportunity to play his rookie European Tour in 2013
Max Kieffer of Germany is relishing the opportunity of playing his rookie season on the European Tour next year, as he qualified for the bigger stage after finishing 14th in the 2012 European Challenge Tour Rankings.
Kieffer is a Dusseldorf native, the same city were the Ryder Cup hero Martin Kaymer was born. Therefore, the 22-year-old plans to follow the footsteps of his role model, when he makes his debut on the European Tour.
Talking to the European Challenge Tour’s website, he stated that Kaymer’s heroics in the Ryder Cup helped him come out of his struggling form this season.
According to him, Kaymer’s winning point for the European Ryder Cup team gave him confidence to play a similar game on the course.
“The Ryder Cup was amazing,” he said. “I came home after a missed cut so I saw almost all of it and for Martin to finish it off was the icing on the cake”.
He added, “It was really motivating. The next day you just want to get out and practise. It was great. There are so many good players out there and it will be tough to play Ryder Cup, but it’s obviously everyone’s dream. It would be incredible to do that”.
According to the golf commentators, Kieffer has the potential to become one of the best golf players in the world.
Right from the beginning of his golf career, he has been improving his game and performing well in different stages of the game.
During his amateur career, he won the European Young Masters in 2006 and followed that with a victory in the Germany International Amateur Championship in 2009.
Furthermore, he also participated in the some of the amateur team tournaments, including Eisenhower Trophy, St Andrews Trophy, Jacques Léglise Trophy and the Junior Ryder Cup.
In addition to that, he also tasted success on the European Challenge Tour, after beating Rahil Gangjee in a nail-biting playoff match at the Gujarat Kensville Challenge in India.
Kieffer believes that he still needs to bring a number of improvements in his game, in order to spend a successful European Tour season in 2013.
