Max Mosley makes his final Euro appeal regarding the privacy issue – Formula 1 news
Former International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Max Mosley has said that he is going to appeal against the recent decision the European Court made regarding the strengthening of UK’s Privacy Law.
Mosley hopes to make this appeal to the Grand Chamber of the Court as he believes that if the media or any organisation decides to issue a report regarding any celebrity’s personal life, they should first take the permission from that respective person before
proceeding with the publication of the story.
However, the court takes appeals only for exceptional cases and it has not been revealed yet whether the court will hear Mosley’s case again or not.
“Despite the Court’s ‘severe criticisms’ of the News of the World, this and other tabloid newspapers could use the same techniques tomorrow to obtain and publish intimate photographs and details of the s*x lives of individuals, without notice and in the
knowledge that it is wholly unlawful,” said Mosley’s lawyer Collyer Bristow.
The former president believes that the media organisation that filmed his extra-marital sexual exploits was totally uncalled for as he found the news out after reading it in the papers.
Keeping in mind Mosley received a record £60,000 in privacy damages after the High Court’s trial back in 2008. He still believes that “justice was not served fully.”
As a result, he decided to take this matter to the European Court in order to make a change to the Privacy Law which seems quite unlikely as the court has already rejected his plea a number of times since 2008.
“Privacy has been the subject of considerable public and media debate in the last month and a ruling from the Grand Chamber of the Court is needed upon this important issue to close a clear gap in UK law,” said Bristow.
Other than that, the press revealed recently that Mosley is trying to pursue the chief reporter and lawyers of that media organisation who filmed his “encounter” through the French courts now in an attempt to redeem himself in some way.
