The weekly United Kingdom software charts are in and it was a bloody shootout between the latest in military technology and Hollywood styled slow-motion diving that determined the ultimate winner.
Yet another seven days have fired their way past the gaming world and brought with them another software sales chart, which after a considerable amount of time, shows some serious movement as a number of consistent top sellers find themselves closer to finding
themselves outside of the top 10.
Starting things off with FIFA Street, which finds itself in 10th place, that too despite the fact that the game only fell outside the top three spots for the first time last week.
The curse of Error 307 seems to be putting ‘on the fence’ gamers off from purchasing a copy of the fastest-selling PC game in history as Diablo 3 slips down to 9th spot despite breaking records in its first week.
Prototype 2 continues to offer intense doses of gore and vengeance and the gamers in the UK cannot seem to get enough of it as it lands in at number eight.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s DLC packs have breathed new life into the sales of the best-selling game in history as it settles for seventh place while Sniper Elite V2’s precision shooting still manages to ship a decent number of copies as it ends the
week in sixth place.
Kicking off the top five is FIFA 12, which shows that no matter how flashy the tricks one can pull off, the real game will always remain the favourite. Dirt Showdown carves out a fourth place finish in its first week on the charts as the adrenaline pumping
battle-car game satisfies nearly everyone.
Dragon’s Dogma also gave Capcom something to smile about as it ended the week in the top three while Max Payne 3 did not see the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier squad sneak up behind it and take it down with four perfectly timed shots.
It seems that gamers want a bit of tactical shooting to cleanse their palate of all the blood, gore and satisfying intense third-person shooter action from Rockstar’s third-instalment of the long running series.
