Max Sirena’s Luna Rossa clinches 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 9 title – Sailing news
Final act of the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series came to an end with Italy’s Luna Rossa winning the last act with 260 points.  With the conclusion of ninth act, the fifth season of Extreme Sailing Series has ended after featuring 301 races organised in nine
global venues across the world. The 2011 Extreme Sailing circuit covered three continents starting from Muscat, Oman, this year in February.
The final day of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 9 was yet another thrilling event for sailors as well as spectators. The Italian team put up a superb sailing show on Singapore waters to finish on top of the standings. They began the final day racing with
a 56-point lead over arch rivals, Groupe Edmond de Rothschild of France, and managed to top the standings.
The weather conditions, as usual, were quite challenging but the fleet completed the final day’s racing. Max Sirena’s team showed a great deal of sailing genius to prove themselves worthy of the title. The Italians finally hit the top spot with 260 points,
a 45-point lead over the second placed The Wave Muscat of Oman.
The Extreme Sailing circuit attracted 287,000 on site spectators. The series has seen six different winners in nine acts. With a superb overall performance, Luna Rossa clinched the circuit title.
Overall standings at the conclusion of Extreme Sailing Series Act 9 at Singapore:

4. Red Bull Extreme Sailing (AUT), Roman Hagara, Hans Peter Steinacher, Matt Adams, Craig Monk = 214 points
5. Alinghi (SUI), Tanguy Cariou, Yann Guichard, Nils Frei, Yves Detrey = 206.5 points
6. Oman Air (OMA), Chris Draper, Kinley Fowler, David Carr, Nasser Al Mashari = 205 points
