In my tech class I am building a sofa vehicle. I went to canadian tire today to buy tires for it, and I found some wheelbarrow tires tha said max weight 300 lbs, does that mean that each tire is 300 lbs, so if i had 4 tires would it be 1200 lbs? or does it not change no matter how many tires there are?

  1. Max weight shown on a tire is the weight that the tire will carry...If you put 4-300 lb capacity tires on an object that means you could carry a total of 1200 lbs on the object....If you have dual (side-by-side) tires, you could carry double the weight.

  2. max weight 300 lbs per tire i think you would want something better if its going to be drove at any kind of speed

  3. the "max weight" is the amount that each tire can support.

    Not what each tire weighs.

  4. your right wheelbarrow tires weigh 300 pounds each and don't forget to add another 25 pounds when you put air in them.

  5. It means that each tire will support 300 pounds.....

  6. in theory your max load is 1200 lbs, but keep in mind that this load is variable due to the fact that the vehicle is influenced by other factors....for ex: when cornering the G force adds to the load....and also when the wind is blowing....so be sure to leave a safety margin.....If I were you I wouldn't exceed 800 lbs

  7. its three hundred pounds each for a total of 1200 lbs but remember on a moving item if you are at 1200 lbs and you pass over high spot that lifts a tire now your 1200 lbs is on 3 wheels which is 400 lbs each, cornering loads the outside wheels etc so be sure to leave yourself a decent margin, although I assume this is not meant to be a fast moving project?
