Maxime Authom, Joao Sousa move to the final qualifying round – San Marino CEPU Open 2011 CH
Continuing on 6th August 2011, Saturday were the second round qualifier matches of the San Marino CEPU Open 2011, an ATP Challenger Tour event. While the event heated up with fiery matches, the fixture between Mirza
Basic, Bosnian, and Maxime Authom of Belgium finished off like it never started. Authom ended the match in less than an hour winning 6-3, 6-4. The match was played at the Centro Tennis Cassa di Risparmio di Fonte dell'Ovo in the City of San Marino.   
Starting off firmly, Belgian took command breaking the Bosnian once to take the lead in the first set. Winning 93 percent points of his first serve and 86 percent of his second, the Belgian won 20 service points in the opening
set. The 24-year-old also held his defence strong against the young Bosnian and took the set 6-3 totalling 30 points against 19 of Mirza Basic.
The Belgian stood to his ground in the second set as well. With a defence unbreakable, the 24-year-old smashed 3 blazers to take on crucial points. Winning 82 percent points of his first serve and 70 percent from his second, Authom
racketed the 20-year-old Bosnian with 21 service points and 9 returners totalling 30 points altogether. 
Bagging the second set as well, Maxime Authom won the match 6-3, 6-4 totalling 60 points against 44 of Mirza Basic and qualifying into the 3rd round of the San Marino CEPU Open qualifiers.
On the other hand, Joao Sousa of Portugal secured his seat in the 3rd round of the qualifiers beating the local lad Davide Melchiorre in straight sets 6-0 and 6-0. The Portuguese made it seem like the match was mere
a practice match for him.
Breaking the Italian three times in a single set, Sousa was marvellous. His first serve win ratio was near 83 percent against Melchiorre’s 31 mark. Overall, the Portuguese won 12 service points and 14 returners totalling 26 to
his first set 6-0 win.
Replicating the first set beating, Sousa won the second set effortlessly. Destroying the local lad with his 73 percent first serve win and an amazing 100 percent of his 2nd, the 22-year-old broke the last of the Italian
in the second set breaking him 3 times in the set. His defence was remarkable, and unbroken in both sets.
Taking away the second set as well, 6-0, the Portuguese qualified into the 3rdround of the San Marino CEPU OPEN qualifier stage to play Boris Pashanski of Serbia.
