Maxime Bouet hopeful to return in the Tour of Pologne – Cycling News
Maxime Bouet who suffered a crash at the opening stage of Tour de Pologne and managed to finish the stage has survived any serious injuries. Right after the crash doctors confirmed that there were no serious injuries to the cyclist and the damage is limited
to bruises and wounds as Dr. Jean Ravey stated that cyclist had not suffered any fracture as he was scanned on Tuesday, August 2.
The AG2R cyclist finished at 169th position at the first stage of Tour of Poland and did not realise how serious the injuries were until the next day as he had to abandon the Tour before the second stage of the Tour of Poland. Team physician Eric
Bouvat escorted the cyclist to the Grenoble University Hospital.
The 24-year-old had his first victory in 2007 when he was third overall in the Ronde de I’Isard followed by a stage win in individual time trials at the Tour de Normandie, 2008. In 2009, he won the Volta ao Alentejo and was second overall at the Les 3 Jours
de Vaucluse.
The Frenchman continued his winning streak in 2010 as he won the third stage of Tour de I’An, was fourth at GP di Lugano and 7th in GP Miguel Indurain.  Bouet finished 8th overall in the Gran Premio dell’Insubria-Lugano and Etoile de
Besseges in the year 2011.
He finished at 55th position in the overall classification at the 2011 Tour de France and managed to get a total of 26 points. Bouet scored the 12th position in the best young rider classification
Cyclist is still under treatment and is hoping to recover soon as he is anxious to get on his bike and continue the Tour of Poland 2011.
German cyclist Marcel Kittel won the first stage of Tour de Pologne with a total of 20 points while Alexander Kristoff with 19 points and Francesco Chichi with 18 points were at the second and third positions respectively.
Quickstep Cycling Team is leading the team’s classification with Omega Pharma-Lotto at second and BMC Racing Team at third position with team AG2R La Mondiale at the settles down at the last position after the first stage of 2011 Tour of Poland
Bouet will not be able to continue the Tour immediately and will be in the company of doctors for few more days until he recovers fully from the crash.
