Maxime Gonalons attracting considerable interest from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 – Ligue 1 news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 midfielder Maxime Gonalons is attracting considerable interest from English and Italian sides according to reports in French media.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has become increasingly important for Les Gones since the turn of 2011 and his performances have now started attracting interest from Italian and English clubs. The youngster is currently playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 Under 21 team
in the World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Colombia-c2873 but is now set to feature more regularly for the Rhone giants under Remi Garde.
With Lyon short on funds and not being able to find a replacement for Jeremy Toulalan who left the club for Malaga this summer, Gonalons is expected to get more chances to impress at the Stade Gerland. Jean-Michel Aulas has also encouraged Remi Garde to
give a chance to the club’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 players – a move that has put Gonalons in the spotlight.
The defensive midfielder was the victim of Staphylococcus Aureus in the summer of 2008 and it was widely expected that his right ankle might be amputated after Gonalons suffered a serious infection on his ankle.
However, the youngster came back strong and since then, has become one of the hottest young prospects in the Lyon side. However, if Lyon are able to land Delvin N’Dinga from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 this summer, Gonalons might be relegated to the bench.
According to Italian sports daily, Il Corriere dello Sport, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are impressed by the youngster’s displays along with English Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. A fee in the region of 10 million Euros is considered to be sufficient
in landing the talented midfielder.
Though the youngster is attracting a lot of interest, it seems that Les Gones might not be willing to let go of Gonalons as Remi Garde sees the Venissieux-born midfielder as a part of the long-term project at Lyon.
Since making his debut for Lyon in 2009, Gonalons has made 42 appearances for the Rhone outfit and has also signed an extension to his contract which would keep him at the Stade Gerland until 2014.
