Maxime Teixeira overpowers Boris Pashanski in first round bout – Slovak Challenger 2011
French world No.167, Maxime Teixeira bulldozed his opening round challenger of Slovak Open 2011 Challenger, Serbian world No.430, Boris Pashanski, beating him down in straight set, 6-1, 6-1 in 43 minutes of hard circuit rallying
on Monday, 14th of November, to make his way into the second round of the event.
Commencing with the fixture, Pashanski led the starter and served out the first game of the set. Serving out second Teixeira evened up the scores with a game two equalizer, 1-1. The two had a close run regarding the first serve
accuracy; however, Frenchman converted 88 percent of his first serves to winning points.
Carrying on, Frenchman broke his Serbian rival in game three to lead the set, 2-1. Pashanski was unable to break the 22-year-old all along the set. Moving on, Frenchman laid a solid defence and offence as he bagged game four, 3-1,
and broke the Serbian for the second time in the set, 4-1.
Left out with just two more game to finish off with a set win, Teixeira bombard the 29-year-old with a service winner and concluded the set with a magnificent breakpoint, third breakpoint, to win the set 6-1. Bagging 12 service
points and 15 returners, Frenchman totalled 27 points and went down to play the second set of the fixture.
Continuing to serve, 22-year-old ignited the set with a winner, game one, and broke the 29-year-old Serb in the second to start up strong. Preserving 100 percent points from his first serves, Frenchman was completely on fire. Not
giving a single chance to his rival to break, Teixeira pulled of game three to extend his lead from 2-nil to 3-nil.
Returning next, Frenchman countered the 29-year-old rival as a child’s play. Pashanski has zero percent of his return point wins; on the other hand, 22-year-old won 57 percent of his first return points. Serving for game four,
Pashanski broke down for the second time in the set, 0-4.
Mustering away with the first four games, Frenchman held his serve next, propelling away to a straight 5 games win to lead the set with a mesmerizing 5-nil mark. Serbian finally broke the silence, winning his first and the last
game of the match, 5-1. Finishing off with the set, Teixeira bagged game seven, 6-1, to conclude the set and the match with a straight set win over the Serbian.
Adding to the 27 points in set one, Frenchman won another 28 in the second set totalling 55 points to run away winning the opening round of the ATP Challenger tour event. Making his way into round two, Teixeira will now play against
Sergiy Stakhovsky in the second round of the Slovak Open 2011 for the quarter-final spot.
