Maxtor 250gb usb powered drive worked but now does...

Question

My drive worked fine watched a movie then unplugged it same as always plugged it in later on I get power to the drive but does not read it on laptop tried it on another pc same story. Please help as all my data is on there Including the music for my wedding and I,m getting married in 2 weeks.I have already run everything I know on my laptop to see if the laptop is the problem also the drive makes a beeping sound when I plug it in I dont think I have heard this before. If its the lead then surely I would get no power to the drive thanks for any help you can offer Matt
