Maxwell Andrade eyes good future in Barcelona as New Year arrives
The Brazilian full back Maxwell Andrade has become famous in the Spanish Champions’ squad. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 last season and unlike the Swedish striker,
he has done pretty well with the Catalans. The 29-year-old usually plays as a left back as a replacement for the French full back Eric Abidal, who also features as a centre back for the Spanish Champions.
Maxwell knows that football is a very unpredictable game, but he is still hoping that his team wins every competition in 2011. He wants Barcelona to continue their all-winning streak as they are showing great form this season.
It was time for a New Year resolution and when the Brazilian full back was asked about it, he said that all he wants at the moment are wins. The former Inter Milan full back said that he knows the fact that the players do not have
a lot of time to rest this season, but whenever it comes down to football he always wants to move on as he does not want to “live with the past.”
Maxwell spoke to the press before heading towards the Levante game that is scheduled on the 2nd of January. He stated that he spoke to the newly signed Dutch youngster http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ibrahim-Afellay-c16547. He said that while training for
the first time as a Barcelona player, he met up with Afellay and he knows that he is a great player. Maxwell also said that the team is going to make sure that Ibrahim Afellay quickly adapts with the Barcelona environment and feels at home. As for what he
thought about Ibrahim Afellay as a player, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maxwell-c25051 said:
“He is very fast, intelligent, talented and able to do things for us … but he will have to get used to the Barca system, and we’re here to help him do that.”
Barcelona are going to be missing out on two of their key defenders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 as they are going to face Levante on Sunday. Maxwell said that both these players are important for the team, but it does not really
bother them. He said that there are players in the squad that can provide cover for Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique both. He mentioned both the young Barca B centre backs who are currently preparing for the Levante fixture – Marc Bartra and Andreu Fontas. He
said that both of them have the ability to become great players. However, he was also of the opinion that with Eric Abidal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Milito-c14321 in the team as centre backs, the team does not really require the services of any better players.
The Brazilian also spoke about the “problems” that occurred between the Players’ Union and the Spanish Football Association. He stated that the whole team is currently supporting the Players’ Union, but he also mentioned that if
the Supreme Court has given orders to play the game on the 2nd of January, he would perform on that date. After mentioning this, he said that the players have to act professional in situations like this and that is exactly what he wants to do as
well.
