I will be in Paris for one day-May 8th. I know that its a national holiday. Will the bus/metro service be interrupted? Will attractions and restaurants be closed? Will anything special be happening? Thank you all!

  1. All will be working, the country wont completly stop during a bank holiday...so maybe few shops may be close but other than that all will be fine....

  2. Most of the shops will be closed. I haven't seen any information about closed museums.

What about the metro and buses ? They will work like during "dimanche et fetes", so half of the buses will be canceled, and metro won't be so often as during a normal day.

  3. The bus/ metro wont be interrupted but some of the stops (the one where only a few people get off) wont be delivered. You'll have to wait the metro a little longer (like 5-6 min instead of 2-3 min). Some restaurant will be closed because Monday the 12th is a national holiday too so some people leave for the long week end. I don't think museums are closed (i dont go to museum) but i'm sure the Louvres is open. There won't really be something special but, as every year, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy will put a flower (it's not really a flower but i don't know how to say it in english) on the grave of the unknown soldier (which is under the Arc of Triumph).

    Sorry for my english!
