May I ask for clarification of the oath? http://www.phoenixmasonry.org/macke...

In the year 1738 Clement XII, at that time Pope of Rome, issued a Bull of Excommunication against the Freemasons, and assigned, as the reason of his condemnation, that the Institution confederated persons of all religions and sects in a mysterious bond of union, and compelled them to secrecy by an oath taken on the Bible, accompanied by certain ceremonies, and the imprecation of heavy punishments. This persecution of the Freemasons, on account of their having an obligatory promise of secrecy among their ceremonies, has not been confined to the Papal See. We shall find it existing in a sect which five should supposes of all others, the least likely to follow in the footsteps of a Roman Pontiff. In 1757, the Associate Synod of Seceders of Scotland adopted an Act, concerning what they called the Mason Oath, in which it is declared that all persons who shall refuse to make such revelations as the Kirk Sessions may require, and to promise to abstain from all future connection with the Order

  1. I'm really not being rude or dim but what is the question and what clarification do you want?

  2. Wow, after your "clarification", I'm afraid I'm more confused than before.  If I read your question right, it seems as though you are asking if the Masonic oath may be discussed without violating some Oath of Honor to Order Illuminatus Templi Orientalis that you claim to have taken (which I know little about, not being affiliated with that order personally), but as a Mason, I am free to discuss whatever I want about whatever I want, except to give the words, tokens, and grips to non-Masons.

  3. what sort of clarification are you looking for?

as many have noted before, there are no secrets in freemasonry...

The Bull from Clement you are referring to was against "secret societies" in general and included freemasonry even though it was not a secret society. There were secret societies in Italy at the time that were not related to or affiliated with freemasonry. The Vatican feared these societies were plotting against them for control of the people and hence made membership in them grounds for excommunication and lumped in anything and everything that they didn't fully understand... since then, freemasonry has been specifically mentioned in bans. but they are all based on faulty logic.

Not sure if this is what you were looking for...

as to some other comments --- there is no Illuminati, at least not one that can legitametly demonstrate any lineage to the original Bavarian Illuminati fraternity that died out over 200 years ago and was never associated with freemasonry. if you belong to a group that calls itself illuminati in some form or another, that's your business, i have no idea what oaths they may ask of you.

    *******

the Bavarian Illuminati was the original, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati, that is my understanding. if you can show me wrong, please do so, i'm all about gaining knowledge.... i studied it elsewhere but the wiki article isn't too bad
