Why does my dad check the oil and water in my moms car once a month for her?

  1. It depends on how old the car is, but he should do it at least once a month.  Your dad is doing something very important and necessary for your mom.

  4. Sorry Tim I saw your question and skipped it. Oil is a lubricant, It reduces friction and heat that cause parts to wear. A mix of water and antifreeze is used as a coolant to prevent overheating. Youd Dad checks these things for your Mom because they are important and he wants to make shure her car will keep running with as few problems as possible. Its called prevevtive maintence. There are more things that he could check and probably does.
