According to the DVLA

You will need to complete CBT if:

- you want to ride a moped (a moped has an engine not over 50 cc with maximum design speed not exceeding 50 kilometres per hour (km/h) which is approximately 31 miles per hour)

- you want to ride a motorcycle

But what are the resrictions on the latter? Is a 90cc engine covered by this license?

  1. As stated at 16 you can only ride a 50cc moped ( could be a 3 wheeled car as in Q-pod)

To ride this bike or drive this vehicle you have to take a CBT.

The CBT only lasts for two years unless you already have a FULL car licence whereby it is valid for the duration of the full Car licence.

However at attaining 17 the CBT now allows you to ride a 125cc bike or scooter (so your 90 comes under that), at the end of your two years you will need to retake your CBT unless you have  passed your motorbike test.

  2. Yes you may ride a 90cc after you have done the CBT, the CBT is not a test but training on a motorcycle so its more of either you can do it or not., not pass or fail.

As a learner rider you may ride a motorcycle with an engine size of up to 125cc and a power output no greater than 11kW (14.6. bhp).

  3. yes as long as you are 17 years of age and have a CBT

you cant ride anything over a 50cc when your 16, you can only ride A 50CC

when u reach 17 you can ride anything under a125cc WITH a manual or automatic gearbox! but thats what you practise on so u can pass your full test

what bike is it you actually own?

  4. yes, you can ride up to 125cc at a maximum of 15bhp (22kw) power with CBT training. You can then take your full test and you are restrited to 31 bhp for a further two years before your full license opens up ad then you can ride whatever you want
