I know they restrict some things from being carried on, will they allow me to have a small pocket knife?

  1. Warning - I did here that some stations are going to start checking person/bags.  For what reason, I don't know.  It is kind of hard to hijack a train.  I think it is more of a "Don't we feel safe now" kind of thing.  You might be able to check out Amtraks website and see.

  2. they are gettng more strickt with metal detectors so you can get searched. probably not an issue immediialtely but soon.

I got one taken away in an airport. Ws to clean my nails and that was it not a threat or harmful knife could not take on the airplane. snno that will be the case on the rr..

  3. Yes... as long as it's legal for you to carry in the departing and arriving cities.

I carry my Buck knife and have never had an issue on Amtrak, ACE, or CalTrain.

  4. yes

there is no TSA at railroad terminals.

I think the blade length maximum is 4" but I doubt if anyone is going to ask.
