  1. don't know but i live in california and i purchased an 870 express in a 7 shot folding stock version. i think it's gonna be the closest thing to the 870 mcs. any 870 can be modded to a spec-op rifle as long as it's used for home protection with no shorter barrel than 18" and not for hunting.

  2. First check your state laws.

Then, just pay NFA taxes, etc. and you'll be good to go.

  3. sure, you just need a $5.00 tax stamp, and it has to be registered as a Class 3 any other weapon, no big deal.

  4. as long as it meets the 18 inch barrel/26 inch overall rule, I dont see why you cant own it.  NYC may have some local regs, the state..not so much.

I have to ask.. with so many short civilian and para-military gadgets out there why would you pay extra for a new MCS anyway?

870's are 870's and it's easy and legal enough in most states to just fix one up the way you want it.

  5. First off, some states and cities have stricter regulations. For example I suspect you wouldn't be able to buy one in New York City.

Second, per federal law, a shotgun needs to have an 18 inch barrel and be 26 inches in overall length, otherwise you need to jump thorugh a lot of excess paperwork and fees.

There is an 18 inch version of the MCS which you would be able to get, but not the shorter 'enty' versions.

  6. I dont know if the rules are different in Nassau, Suffolk, or Westchester countys -- BUT in upstate New York you have to have a barrel thats 18 inches long and I am pretty certain the total length is 26 inches.... If that shotgun meets that criteria you are good to go.....

If I might make a suggestion ---- Consider the Mossberg 590 if you want a serious military grade shotgun... Its what used by our armed forces...
