Maya Dirado accomplishes Women’s 400m IM title – Swimming News
Maya Dirado of Stanford Swimming accomplished first position in the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on third day of the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Championship Trials in Indianapolis on Thursday, June 27.
Dirado looked dominant on the starting blocks as she wanted to confirm her spot in the US team for the 2013 World Championships. She faced strong contest from her closest competitor in the distant IM discipline, but she managed
to secure the title.
With her commendable pace, Dirado managed to outsmart her opponent over the finishing end for first position, as she tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 34.34 seconds.
Her gold winning effort remained 0.16 seconds ahead of Elizabeth Beisel of Bluefish Swim Club, who finished her race in the second place by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 34.50 seconds.
Beisel was chased by Caitlin Leverenz of California Aquatics, who was almost six second slower and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 40.47 seconds.
Leverenz was chased by Becca Mann of Clearwater Aquatics, who stayed 1.99 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall for fourth place by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 42.46 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was secured by Cammile Adams of Aggie Swim Club, who was 0.24 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 42.70 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was secured by Andie Taylor of Stanford Swimming, who was 1.94 seconds away from her former finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 44.64 seconds.
Subsequently, Taylor was traced by Haley Anderson of Trojan Swim Club, who stayed nearly 0.70 seconds behind and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 45.36 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was obtained by Amber McDermott of Athens Bulldog Swim Club, who finished her race in a time of 4 minutes and 50.06 seconds.
Dirado was contented with her notable form and expressed her desire of making her fans proud at the 2013 world titles.
