Maya Dirado wins Women’s 200m IM gold – Swimming news
Maya Dirado of UN-12-PC won gold medal of Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on day one of the 2013 Speedo Grand Challenge at Woollett Aquatic Centre on Friday, May 24.
The 20-year-old Dirado outsmarted her challengers in the four-lap IM discipline and occupied the title. With her astonishing pace, she stayed in a comfortable lead over her supporters and secured gold medal.
She continued her notable efforts in the 200m discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 12.44 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Stina Gardell of UN-20-CA, who was 1.20 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.64 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Yuliya Efimova of UN-20-CA, who was 1.40 seconds slower from her former finisher and hit the wall for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.14 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Andrea E Kropp of UN-20-CA, who was almost two body lengths behind and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 17.02 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Kendyl Stewart of NCA-SI, who remained only 0.31 seconds slower and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 17.33 seconds.
Stewart was chased by Anna K Senko of UN-08-CA, who was full body length behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 18.21 seconds for sixth place.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was obtained by Yana Martynova of Trojan-CA, who was nearly 0.03 seconds apart and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 18.24 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Noell Tarazona of UN-08-CA, who remained 1.08 seconds ahead of her following swimmer and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 19.32 seconds for eighth place.
In addition, Dirado expressed happiness over her impeccable pace in the playoff of the event while the position holders received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
