Maybank Malaysian Open suspended due to bad weather – Golf News
The Maybank Malaysian Open officials have called of the second round after bad weather hit the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club on Friday, April 13, 2012.
The storm clouds suddenly appeared in the area, forcing the players to return back to the clubhouse.
Meanwhile, the two South Africans, Jbe Kruger and Otto Hennie, held the clubhouse lead after carding seven-under and eight-under par scores, respectively.  Both the players have a score of nine-under par for the two rounds.
“I’ve been working on a lot of things and it seems to be coming together which is always a good sign. I just worked a bit on my swing which is not really a 100% yet. My ball striking used to be my strength and now it is my weakness,” said Kruger.
“The mind-set will be the same. I’m going to hit it one shot at a time. I won’t really call it giving as Charl and Louis a run for their money because I just finished awesomely. It is just fun to be in contention, it doesn’t matter if it is with Charl or
Louis,” he added.
Hennie had a spectacular bogey-free round while carding eight birdies to surge to the top of the leaderboard. Kruger later joined him with the help of eight birdies against a lone bogey.
Another South African, Louis Oosthuizen was one stroke behind through 12 holes, to take the third spot after the suspended second round. He scored two birdies in the round without suffering a bogey so far.
Charl Schwartzel, the overnight leader, completely looked out of focus, as he slipped down the leaderboard to tie for the 12th position. He suffered four bogeys against a lone birdie that came on the par-five third hole.
The top rated Indian player, Jeev Milkha Singh, also faltered in the second round, as he scored three bogeys against a maiden birdie following his brilliant performance on Thursday.
Singh was the best ranked player on the leaderboard after he scored seven-under par 65 in the opening round of the event. However, he lost control over his game on Friday.
He still has seven holes to play in his second round.
