Maybe, unbeaten after the Moyglare Stud Stakes extends her streak to 5 of 5
The Aidan O’Brien trained filly, Maybe, just maybe the best two-year-old in Europe, and she bolstered her case as one when she stormed past her opponents to win the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes, entirely for fillies, at Curragh, by 1 ¾ lengths, on 28 August,
2011.
The Galileo filly extends her unbeaten record to 5 of 5 as she refuses to go down, which is a good sign for trainer Aidan O’Brien as Maybe marches on to the all important Group 1 QIPCO Guineas 1,000 after her striking victory at the Curragh.
Maybe is the most favoured filly to win the Guineas 1,000 and the event will unfold on 4 May, 2012 at Newmarket.
After the victory trainer Aidan O’Brien indicated that Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp could be the champion filly’s next start.
So justly, Maybe was favoured in the Group 1 Guineas 1,000 as she proved that in the race where she was untouchable among 7 other juvenile fillies and reinforced her position as the top filly and the favoured one for the 4th May, 2012, Newmarket event.
The Ballydoyle filly, before the race, was way bigger than 5 to 1 as she was cut down as the race grew closer.
When the Grade 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes' winner, La Collina, came out successful over the males on 7 August at the Curragh, on the same card, Maybe went on to win the Irish Grade 2 Keeneland Debutante Stakes by a margin of 2 ½ lengths, the same day.
The most accomplished filly of 2011 in Europe was in the briefest moment’s doubt when she got challenged by Fire Lily, who was the runner-up in the Moyglare Stud Stakes.
Under jockey Joseph O’Brien, Maybe got rid of her challenger, Fire Lily, but a little late in the race which made the race interesting for a good part but Maybe put her away to complete the seven furlongs in 1 minute and 24.26 seconds.
Maybe has recorded 5 wins of 5 starts with lifetime earnings of £229,657.
