She is correct in what she is trying to achieve. Just, because it didn't work in her home doesn't mean it isn't a worthwhile thing to teach.

Our children do need to learn to control themselves and  and to be able to abstain from s*x. They also need to know that if they aren't going to do that that it is o.k to get on birth control and have access to condoms.

Abstinence works, if you don't have s*x, no one gets pregnant. Teaching it, only gives people, children especially, the option of using it.

Unplanned pregnancies due to a lack of "discretion" cross all cultures, races, financial status, locale, age, and levels of intelligence. Basically I think that abstinence goes against human nature and the inclination to procreate. Which is why preaching abstinence birth control outside of marriage is an up hill battle. Keeping people informed about methods of birth control, and ensuring EVERYONE has access to some form of it, is the best way to minimize unplanned pregnancy. Maybe if Palin's self righteous attitude gave an inch of flexibility, her daughter would not be in a situation.
