Question:

Maybe a Detached Retina?

Hello,

I am afraid that maybe I have a detached retina.

Here are my symptoms:

Floating strings that moves when I move my eyes sideways, up and down. Some of them do a spiral while following the movement of my eyes, some just move sideways. They are kinda blackish and not wide... There are a few of them. (probably 6 strings) One eye has more than the other.

I went to see an eye doctor and did a test (not for detached retina) and she said that its MAYBE because of cells in my eye (I can see them), OR I have water in my eye??? Can this be a detached retina...Or something else??

Thank you for your help :)

  1. you just have to go to an opthalmologist and have it checked. . . just to make sure since what you are experiencing right now are symptoms of a detached retina. . bettter have it checked. .

  2. NO!

Yes, you shouldn't always trust doctors but - having a detached retina that was overlooked at an office, is like walking into a doctor's office for a band-aid on your hand, but your foot is severed and blood is pumping all the floor, but they overlooked the foot and fixed the cut on your hand.

They wouldn't miss something like that.  And if was truly detached, your world would be black.

Now if you wake up and 2/3rds of your sight in one eye is black, you are to go to the E.R. faster than they can drive you there.

Detached retinas can be "buckled" if caught in time to save the sight.

Make another drs. appt. and have them sit down to explain your fears and questions, don't let them rush you out of the office.

    good luck

  3. A detached retina usually causes blurred vision or blind spots.

Your description sounds like protein floaters.
