ok so my lad mr chips has a mane full of hair!! he has really thick mane but he has REALLY bad dandruff in it... ver bad now.. no amount of brushing will help or mane and tail conditioner...

please help before i go completly insane and die the poor lads hair white??

all advice concidered / welcomed!!

  1. wow he doesn't sound as healthy as a horse ...does he? Add some olive oil to his feed he needs alittle moisturizing. Add about 4 teaspoons to about a hand full.


  2. You can use head and shoulders on them, it wont hurt them or their mane at all.

    Also add corn oil into his feed about 1/3 cup, if hes not overweight already... and that will help with keeping his dandruff down.

  3. Try Listerine.  It was actually marketed as an anti-dandruff remedy when it first came out.  Just pour it on and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing out.  I don't know if it works with all the flavors or just with the original gold-ish flavor.

  4. I would ask your vet... but you might be able to use the dandruff shampoo for people....

  5. Give him cod liver oil in his feed. My horse had the same problem. it worked in a couple of weeks and gave have a lovely shiny coat.

  6. use head and sholders on him......it dosen't hurt them

    I had to use it on one of my horses and it got rid of it.
