Maybe tipped for success in Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes
Maybe has got a solid chance of bringing up her maiden victory of the ongoing season, by winning the Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes (British Champions Series) (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) at Newmarket in England on Friday, July 13, 2012. A victory in the
class-1 event will be awarded a cash prize of £90,736.
The going will be soft in the 1 mile event, which is scheduled to start at 15:00 GMT. A total of 11 quality runners will be combating against each other, but the track conditions will be challenging for all of them.
However, there is one runner who has done well in similar circumstances and will definitely be a top contender for victory today. She is the A. P. O'Brien’s trainee, Maybe, who has got a phenomenal record in the sport, which will help her catch the attention
of the punters. She has been given a starting price of 8 to 1 by the bookmakers for today’s race.
The three-year-old filly does not have a lot of experience, but she has performed well under pressure situations in the past. Her career started off in a terrific manner, but she has been a touch rusty in the 2012 season.
The young filly made her debut appearance back in May last year and was priced 8 to 1 back then. She was absolutely at home back then and stormed to a comfortable victory by four and a half lengths. No one was able to match her speed and her stamina was
also impressive, which helped her hold onto the lead in the initial half.
Maybe proved that her maiden victory was not a fluke, but sheer talent, as she went onto win her next race as well. She took part in three more events that year and managed to finish on top in all of them.
With five victories in five outings, the Irish runner was expected to start the ongoing season with a bang. However, her streak was broken, as she finished third in her first race of the year.
This put a doubt in the minds of the bookies and they did not rate her as the favourite to win the next event. Their judgement turned out to be a correct one in the end, as the talented filly finished fifth in her most recent race.
However, she has got a great opportunity to bounce back under veteran jockey, Ryan Moore.
