Maybe to cause upset in Barclays Bank Ireland Pretty Polly Stakes at Curragh
Aidan O´Brien has a strong hand in the Group 1 Barclays Bank Ireland Pretty Polly Stakes, as he is being represented by three dangerous contestants at Curragh this Sunday. All three runners are mighty talented, but Maybe is expected to emerge on top of the
table.
On soft to heavy track, seven speedy runners will lock horns in pursue of a handsome cash prize worth €114,000. The 1m2f meeting will be kicked off at 16:20 (GMT).
Maybe was super impressive last year, as she remained unbeaten right through the season. After making her winning debut at Naas, she went on to grab the top prize respectively at Ascot and Leopardstown.
The filly has a tremendous record at Curragh, as she sealed two consecutive triumphs at this track last year, stretching her unbeaten run to five starts. After a couple of fantastic triumphs at Curragh, she went on a long vacation and stayed out of action
until May this year.
Galileo’s daughter is yet to show anything special this season. She made her seasonal debut at Newmarket, where she finished third behind Homecoming Queen in the Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes (British Champions Series).
After an embarrassing defeat, the filly could not get her act together and as a result, ended up fifth in the Group 1 Investec Oaks at Epsom last month.
A couple of unlucky rides would have dented her confidence, but she has plenty of things in favour, including the going. So, she has to be considered today.
On the other hand, Sapphire is aiming to complete her hat-trick. D. K. Weld’s charge made her seasonal debut on a high note, winning the Group 3 Kerry Group Noblesse Stakes at Cork.
The conditions are slightly more testing this time and therefore, she might not be able to present an equally good show. Similar is the case with Izzi Top, who is seeking her third victory this season.
Izzi Top and Sapphire are indeed in good shape, but according to our calculations, Maybe is in far better position to bag the big prize. We wish the best of luck to all the runners.
